If we're talking personal experience, there's also the matter of everyone's brains being different! A particular hypnotist can click for you while another one using similar tactics doesn't, and in those cases it's less a matter of what the tist is doing and more how your brain works.
For example, for me, I think EMG is the only "just the person's voice" hypnosis I've had any luck with, I think mostly because I like his voice. Every other hypnotist I generally need binaurals and/or subliminals to really get into; my brain actually responds positively to overstimulation because, as I've said, it's overly analytical and would otherwise pick apart everything that's being said.
I think another reason why these kinds of files have prominent results is that they don't need to be actively listened to. There is no clear induction or awakener, meaning trance is a lot more subtle and lets you autopilot a little instead of just sitting there with your eyes closed. It's also why you could theoretically listen to them while asleep-- passive listening works better than active listening, so it's not as much of a time sink to train on them, so you train on them more, so you get results faster.
I experience the mentioned overstimulation in various files in a way also when it occurs with very little efforts - whenever there is some kind of distortion or effect on the voice that you would normally instantly reject for poor audio quality - being it the strange panning of SB's TTS (if that's the correct term for the apparent time offset between the left and right channel) or exaggerated hissing sounds when 's' letters are pronounced or the clicking of consonants or white noise along with the voice, muted when the hypnotist is silent.
This drives the suspicions if this is also a vector of something subliminal getting sneaked in. Perhaps this is done to steer your processing focus on exactly the spoken range of the audio, so you listen very closely but not directly to the content said? Then make these things rhythmic and it contributes signifcantly to a pleasant experience.
i find the Mr. Daniels references so Interesting. Mr. Daniels was the first hypnotist i encountered who made me believe that subliminals work better than science lets on. there was stuff those files did that was reported by myself and other users of the files was not in any of the audible tracks.

These files are the most addicting ones since queue balls, which really is what got me into hypno vids on porn sites in the first place. Something about the robo voice, and the fantasies...

Mr. Daniel was how I found this forum, I think, because I was looking for information on him and I think he got mentioned in the Bambi thread. To date he's probably the most potent hypnotist I've listened to, the problem is that his files are such a time sink. I'm rather surprised he doesn't have a dedicated thread.

Yeah, queue balls was my first association as well. Only they're a bit like The Who vs Megadeth in intensity differences.
