Design changes

Those who DO NOT use Internet Explorer may have noticed some design changes. Could you please let me know what you think?

Unfortunately the buggy piece of crap called Internet Explorer is utterly broken by design does not follow standards and should be banned NOT be used (for your own safety). IE8 is better than IE6/7, but still only 20% on the Acid3 test.

Delivery time or vicis est viaticus Part III

@#$%$%^ happens from time to time, I know. And I can understand that. And I do not even complain about such things, because I know the usual reasons. I know all the variables and possible faults. But it’s still sooooo frustrating. All your efforts to no avail. You plan for weeks, you work round the clock to make it happen, you invent, create and deliver, your imagination is boiling, but ….

… the order is not ready to be sent yet. Yes, the delivery time is 6-8 weeks. Yes, 8 weeks have already passed. We will ship next week.

But I can’t wait one more week! I must have the ordered stuff before the end of this week to be able to use it next week!

You’ve guessed, right? :-\

16 hour down time or Vicis est viaticus Part II

Here’s what happened. The load increased, clogged CPU time and my account was suspended during my night for overusing system resources.

It took me 10 hours to get my sites back. Tickets did not help, but the live chat did the trick.

I still believe that the problem #1 is MySQL database. MySQL locks up, PHP processes spin trying to get the info (I think problem #2 is PHP). However, nobody was able to find the mysql logs to prove me right or wrong.

It’s much easier to just disable the account, than to have a look at what/where/why the problem is, or simply kill the CPU/RAM hungry PHP processes.

The provider wants me to migrate to the “Business class” (5 times more expensive). I’m seriously thinking about that…

Winter, weather, body, ads and where is Like Ra?

Beginning with the last question – still here 😉 But very busy.

– with the job (which is about to change somehow in the next few months).

– with home servers, computers, networks, electronics, navigation systems, etc. (upgrades, updates, patchings, backups …. The server OS must be finally reconfigured and upgraded. The bugs, slowness, disks running out of space and memory leaks make me nuts).

Bugs in Firefox 3.6 and web-design

Update: Fixed for Firefox 3.6. Actually, it was not an FF bug, but following the standard. The background of the boxes will be broken in Internet Explorer which is buggy. Chrome renders OK.

Firefox 3.6 is out but the bug related to element positioning is still there. So if you are going to upgrade you will see that the design is broken.

Looks like it’s the time to rewrite the internals again… Oh my …

How to put pantyhose on without destroying them (updated)

Lots of frustration come from not being able to put pantyhose on properly. I hope this tutorial will help a bit. This is still a draft. Please let me know what you think, what should be changed or updated.

Updated: just added two more points. While it may look obvious for you, it’s not obvious for others 😉
