The last ring of the school bell or wet pantyhose. Part I

schoolgirls in pantyhose This event is called “The last ring of the school bell” and consists of two parts: official and non-official.

The official part takes place at schools. The schoolgirls and boys all wearing old school uniform (dark brown dress, white apron, white bows, white knee-highs) say “good-bye” and “thank you” to their teachers, bring them flowers, sing songs, wipe out tears, etc.

The second part takes place everywhere. In parks, fountains, squares, children playgrounds and sandboxes. The former pupils are going nuts and mental.

Just look at the photos… Continue reading “The last ring of the school bell or wet pantyhose. Part I”

John Everett Millais and Tights in art

Millais FairiesLet’s continue the Tights in the art theme which was started by Geraden in Tights in Arts and cited by me here.

A couple of weeks ago I visited John Everett Millais (1829-1896) exhibition in Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. His paintings are known for the realistically with lots of details vividly depicted nature. But what I did not find in various articles and guides written about Millais and what I found in his paintings is eroticism. His works are very real and very erotic regardless the subject.

And last but not least – tights. Men in tights, kids in tights, girls in tights, boys in tights and stockings. Look at some example here:

Men in pantyhose photo session

A woman and a man in pantyhoseHarisnya (the founder of e-mancipate) did a professional photo session in which he explored the limits of masculinity:

where pantyhose colors or patterns would be too feminine for men”

The result?  You can find the results here in Geraden’s blog.

But as you may have guessed, no such limits have been found. A man remains a man whatever he’s wearing.

Man in skirts and pantyhoseSee Part I.

I do like Karli’s photos. But other than being a good photographer he’s the founder (Karli, please correct me) of the Men’s skirt group. And now thanks to the article (on the left) the group has been presented to a wider auditory. Congratulations!

I can’t say I “like” skirts, personally I do not find them comfortable, but the pantyhose bit usually associated with skirts always attracts my attention. And the fact that they (the group, that is) wear skirts with pantyhose not only at the specially organized events but as a normal clothes everywhere including their daily job:

If I appear in the office wearing trousers my colleagues ask me anxiously if I caught a cold.

Pantyhose, shorts, mini-skirts or back to the 70s. Part II

Pantyhose with shortsSee Part I

It’s getting warmer, girls are wearing pantyhose again (during 30 min I noticed a girl shorts and skin-coloured pantyhose, a girl in a t-shirt, yellow pantyhose and roller-blades, a woman in a dress and red pantyhose).

So, lets jump into the 60s-70s again to see how pantyhose were worn 30-40 years ago.

20 photos below.

Edie Sedgwick. Part IV. Sienna Miller

Sienna Miller in pantyhoseIn short: Sienna Miller played Edie Sedgwick (see Part I, Part II and Part III) in “The Factory Girl”. (You can find some shots from the movie below). But this is not all. She managed to shock the public with her clothes on the premiere afterparty: black shiny pantyhose with a leotard(?), control panty(?), spandex shorts(?) on top, a fluffy top, ankle-high boots with high heels and a leather jacket. If you followed my Edie Sedgwick posts, you would say that it’s very Edie-like. Yes and no.

“Yes”, because the list of clothes indeed look similar to what Edie would wear. “No”, because no journalists recognized “the style”. Instead, they were shouting: “Sienna forgot a skirt or pants at home!”, “Sienna Has No Pants, or Sense of Style”, “No pants party”, “Fashion victim”. A disaster? Have a look at the photos and decide by yourself. Continue reading “Edie Sedgwick. Part IV. Sienna Miller”

Edie Sedgwick. Back to the 60s? Part III The followers

Edie Sedgwick in pantyhose(See Part I and Part II)

Her influence was and still is enormous. Lots of women are trying their best to dress like Edie, behave like Edie and look like Edie, posting revealed secrets in blogs and forums, and (what I find very funny) hissing on teenagers wearing striped shirts with opaque pantyhose:”How dare you! You don’t even know whose style it is!!!”

Edie's lookNope, she did not invent the style. She did not invent stripes, she did not invent mini. She even did not invent pantyhose. Girls and women of 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s dressed like that, without knowing who Edie was. The style is obvious. It’s the current generation who are rediscovering and reinventing pantyhose (yes, I’m simplifying 😉 abandoned by the celebrities of 2000 and rediscovering the celebrities of 60’s and 70’s. Edie Sedgwick. Back to the 60s. Part I

Edie Sedgwick in pantyhose Edie Sedgwick, a muse of Andy Warhol and Bob Dylan, a Factory girl, an actress and a model, an icon of the 60s was also known for her distinctive style: short hair, long shoulder length earrings, heavy dark eye make-up (those 3 hours of waiting while she was doing her eyes were driving everyone around crazy!) and pantyhose with everything.

Pantyhose with a leotard, pantyhose with a loose-fitting shirt (and nothing else), pantyhose and a t-shirt, pantyhose with mini-dress, pantyhose with leotard and t-shirt, etc. Black opaques or fishnets. And heels.

Pantyhose, shorts, mini-skirts or back to the 70s. Part I

Shiny pantyhose high bootsSpeaking about the latest fashion tendencies (or simply click on fetish fashion), we are completely forgetting about what happened 30-40 years ago. Remember? Hippie, twist, then disco, mini, hot-pants, platforms and … pantyhose. white pantyhose, creamy pantyhose, shiny pantyhose. With everything. Pantyhose with shorts (see also Part I and Part II), pantyhose with mini-skirts, pantyhose under thick woollen stockings.

“For those who … liked to show a leg, it became tasteful in the early 70s to wear creamy white tights with black patent shoes.” (Source Fashion Era).

Girls were wearing extremely short skirts so they had to keep close to a wall when going up- or downstairs. Schoolgirls could not use the upper half of the blackboards.
