Semi-destroyed in 1945 USSR was first in space in 1961. Rich (high oil prices) Russia in 1999-2000 semi-destroyed itself by 2021.

No industry besides mining (based on imported components), destroyed aircraft industry, destroyed shipbuilding industry, almost no progress in space since Soviet era, no progress in electronics (besides the SPARC-based Elbrus processor, which is still decades behind the competitors), forgotten science (even RFFI was killed a couple of years ago). Destroyed independent media. Even Novichok was invented during the Soviet times. Impunity, mediocracy, corruption, support of tyrants... And the list goes on and on.

o- UA is a separate and independent country
o- "The special military operation" is started by RU
o- Russian military forces are fighting on the UA territory
o- Russian and Ukrainian citizens die on the UA territory
o- Destructions are happening on the UA territory
o- Some destructions and deaths are caused by RU forces and were intended
o- The amount of deaths by violence and destructions have significantly grown since the beginning of the Russian "operation".
o- The "operation" caused 2,500,000 refugees.

If I was a Dictator of a country and wanted to take over another smaller country, I would send my people, military and civilians, over to that country as vacationers. Then have my people BUY products and property. Once we own enough land, we can use mob-rule to change the government and then annex that country to my country. No guns, no tanks, no war. And my goals were met.

Ukraine is just a victim. it could be Latvia, for example (they are also trying very hard). I have relatives in Ukraine and I know Russian military men who are currently fighting in Ukraine. The game of politicians led to the fact that war was inevitable.
