Just seen in the news – there were two more massive DDoS attacks on LiveJournal – on Apr 04 and Apr 07.

LiveJournal slowdowns do closely correlate with the Free CDN performance issues. I disabled using the CDN – the attached images should download much faster now.

I noticed yesterday that images were barely loading (I use a free CDN for attachments). Then I found out that LiveJournal undergone the most powerful DDoS attack in its history. It’s the second time LikeRa.Com was side-affected by a well planned hackers action. The counters also significantly dropped.
Just in case, the images are loading from www.likera.com.nyud.net:

Should you notice a slowdown or no big images at all, just remove the .nyud.net part from the hostname:

Is everything working OK now?
They both work fine and load at full speed but if the attacks are over that would be the case

True, but just wanted to make sure ….
All very slooooooow when accessing photos this morning, but fine now.
What I don’t understand is why the hackers do what they do… if it was only to prove how clever they are, then why cause grief for innocent by-standers? Are we just what the Americans would call ‘collateral damage’ to them?
Hanging is too good… 🙂

Bad … Still not sure if was a good idea to use the free CDN. Though it does help with reducing the load.
