Call them 'TENS units',  'estim' or 'E-stim'; whatever they are, they have long held a deep fascination for me as an addition to my self-bondage scenarios.

I must be clear on one point - I am NOT seeking some form of torture, quite the reverse in fact. I'm seeking a way to tease myself whilst helpless and hopefully bring a planned session to a satisfying conclusion 😁

My experiments in this area have so far been limited to the use of a mains powered vibrator/massager on a timer - which is very enjoyable but is also bulky and limiting in what I can create for my sessions.

So my thoughts have turned to the smaller devices like tens units and estims that appear to offer a viable alternative.

Does anyone have experience with these devices?

What differences are there between the 'TENS' and 'Estim'? I can quickly spot that cost is a major factor, but what about ease/pleasure of use?

Does anyone have an alternative?

I've had some experience with estim.. Although I can't say that I've ever achieved the all powerful HFO (hands free orgasm). I would say my experience is a mixed bag. When you first start a session, the feeling is great.. However you have to continuously adjust the strength (increasing) as the session goes on, as you become more and more used to what is happening.

For example, I use the products from http://www.peselectro.com. I can start off at level 5 and feel I can go any further.. but 30 mins into a session, (with a little coaxing) I can take brief hits at full power (level 10).

I am by no means an expert. peselectro has a pretty good forum, with sample pics and videos.. Lots of people there to ask questions of.

Last year I spent days investigating the subject. Yes, HFO sounds very interesting, but indeed you need powerful devices. To make it more interesting - 2-3 channel boxes. Plus "toys". That will cost you around $1000.

Another problem is it's quite difficult to combine estim with self-bondage (think of electricity, cables and sweat).

The bottom line - I decided to stay away from estim. Vibrators are much cheaper and can be made waterproof.

Some great comments and observations from CA - I'm very glad I asked becuase this is a far more complex area than I'd imagined (or fantasised?).

I think Ra has identified the key issues - price (that is way too much and there are many other toys I'd love to buy first) and safety (I'm not 'dying' for a HFO, nor wishing to risk unpleasant pain that I can't turn off)

It seems that my search for true HFO (I like that term!) will continue.

Yes, the numbness becomes an issue. The great thing, though, is that the electrodes can be applied under your clothing. That's a bonus.
