It does indeed give to think.
Some time ago I got a pumping machine for  breast enlargement. That is a whole story by itself as it broke rather quickly and I had to rebuild the complete electronics with a raspberry pi. They mention that one should apply warm towels after using it. In the first paper they advocate temperature as well.
My pumping machine had not much effect. Measurements each day showed fluctuations. If you measure at the wrong moment, you think: "it works!" but the next day you are back where you started. On the other hand: it is a rather relaxing massage.

OK, now I found it. What messed me up was the page number which is 325 rather than 310. There are some strange things there. "They acted as their own control". What does that mean? The other papers use that also.
The size of the rib cage diminishes. ?????
That the breasts grow: OK. But why should the underlying size get smaller?
I would not let my students publish without investigating what is happening there. But then: I am not in the humanities. In my field it are little things like that that either make you find errors, or lead to interesting discoveries (usually errors unfortunately).
The next question is: to what extent are the subjects aware of what the suggestions are? In a control group of 3 people you do not have much leeway. They seem very confident that there is no "leakage" there.
An expert would probably have many more questions. After all, these things are difficult.

Yet, the results are tantalising. Why is there no follow up?
It would be really nice if this could be substantiated.

What I find particularly interesting is the fact, that all researches I could find were conducted between 1960 and 1980.

Hypnosis is unpopular amongst those who give money for grants? "Pseudoscience"?

Yet, the results are tantalising.
