This was confirmed by one of those daft polls that did the rounds recently. Apparently a quarter of young people would “happily date a robot”.

Wow, they’d go out with a partner constructed from computer chips and cybernetics! Amazing!

Not so amazing given that even back in the 1970s, plenty of not-so-young men have been known to have a partner constructed from inflatable latex, “real hair” and three access points.

All that the survey is telling me is that young people today think The Terminator is a likely scenario, Ex Machina is happening now and that Weird Science is a documentary.

Along the same lines I now many people who reach for their laptop/tablet/smart phone/iPhone immediately upon waking up... my hands tend to wander elsewhere

Interesting... Google's neural networks that provide image searching are very good trained and are very effective. This is what it found while searching for "bound girl" in several languages (that was, actually, a comparison test):

       

Both girls are clearly not bound, also, nothing about "bondage" was mentioned on the related pages or in the image metadata, but their poses (and tattoos of the tribe girl) suggest that they might be tied up.

After almost a year, I'm going to work on Miyuki again. The most serious bugs are fixed in Program-O, the developers are back and accessible, and I have some new ideas. One of the long term projects is to combine the AIML chatbot with a neural network, but let's play with AIML again first and add the previously missing functionality.

... and immediately filed several bugs ... That will not be fixed in the nearest XXX weeks.... Arrrgghhh... As soon as you get an ingenious idea... Is it the sign to switch to something else?

The latest Program-O update, that should fix the bugs I discovered, screwed up the working bot completely. And the developer are busy...

Anyway, I was experimenting with training the neural network on dialogues from almost 700 films. I modded the original program, so I can "talk" with the neural network. And what I can say... I'm very impressed. Looks at these dialogues.

After several passes through the whole 17MB dialogue database:

Me: What is your name?
MM: My name is Order Palace.
Me: Strange name...
NN: I always thought of that.
Me: Do you like it?
NN: It could be temporary.
...
Me: Why do you live?
NN: I'm thinking about this.

After several days of training and tweaking the training methods:

Me: What is you name?
NN: I think I lost my own conscience, sir.
Me: No wonder.... The network is too small...
NN: You can't stay here and talk to me about Shanghai - it's only a movie. I think I'm due to see you.
Me: What happened in Shanghai?
NN: I don't know.
Me: You mentioned a movie...
NN: I know what you're thinking. You think it was a mistake. I just had a little somebody down there. And it's not what you want. I'm sorry. I'm not free. I'm going to the Feds.

Yes, not perfect, but I still find it very amusing and very promising.

Saying that.... I'm looking for ANY dialogues in the form of one utterance per line (one line can be as long as needed, as long as it's one utterance). Different dialogues should be divided by two new lines. Naughty, fetish, porn dialogues are welcome too.

Another point is that the network is too small for the task. I'm using 3 layers with 512 neurons per each layer (5,438,560 parameters in total). And it takes several hours to get through the 17MB file. I need to upgrade everything....

On a similar theme this looks interesting

    - Saya, an artificial daughter created by a Japanese couple who seem too clever by far!

This images shows how much more realistic Saya has become     - I would easily have identified the digital nature of the left-hand image, but struggled to tell the latest was not real.

A question poses itself though... why have they made her so very 'perfect'? I reality perfection doesn't happen, so is this a problem for designers and code writers and would less perfect deliver a more realistic effect?

I guess this is subjective as, in my eyes, she is 'perfect' and not 'normal' like 99.99% of the world (normal can be, and often is, very attractive too) - what I maybe should have said is that it appears to me that they have created a 'realistic' image based upon an 'ideal' model rather that a daughter with, for example, a squint or uneven teeth or lank hair or... well you get the picture! 😉
