My ~12yo computer is too noisy and hungry, so I'm building my new PC...

Ok, why use a case. Mount all your parts on a chassis, and add components as you need them. Or, you could lay everything out on a chunk of plywood until you have everything working correctly, then mount it in a box.

SO, yes, a typical test lab 😊
