Hello Xerof,
I think this is a solenoid valve for the air we breathe.
Actuated they switch, they get air and the vibrator runs.
Lets get rid of the switch, stops the vibrator and she can not breathe.

I have seen this one also: motorised valve which may do the trick.
The dimension is probably 1/2 inch.
The ball solenoid valve is there better, because more air passes.
Try out.
That's interesting, A normally open valve would be "safer" and I guess wouldn't suffer with the minimum required pressure to open again?
It got me also thinking of other things, such as the solenoid could just "click" where you could hear the motorised move. I may get both and see what works best.
