However, everything needs to be checked manually. Fortunately, you can ask ChatGPT to provide links to the resources.
I agree with you, there are many very good & helpful uses for AI (especially in the scientific community *if* the data being used as the basis for the input is checked and filtered and as you said the results are carefully verified and cross checked manually).
Unfortunately it can be used very irresponsibly as well, copy garbage in & paste garbage out, and this will probably be the most often used cheap/easy/quick usage, and spreading misinformation on a global scale, and be regurgitated by the bots which initially gathered it to be spit out.... self perpetuating like an ouroboros serpent:
Like a knife, in the hands of a seasoned chef like Paul Fotie Photenhauer (really sorry, could not resist that one since we are on this site) a very useful tool to make the world's finest dishes, in the hands of Mack the Knife, a tool of destruction & not so much.Â

Zooy thank you for the kind words, but I'm no expert & I'm sure I can be duped as well. All you can do is try to your best to cross reference "facts" and "examples" & check for sources as best you can, this is true for human sources as well. To avoid making fatal mistakes & possible legal accountability issues, ChatGTP still often tries to formulate apparent stated "facts" as general possibilities "Most sources" etc. which can often give you a clue and be a red flag.
