Trios were generally my fav to play with- room to groove and move and still have great interplay. Almost all were with the typical bass and guitar as keyboardists usually had a much bigger investment as a Hammond was not an easy piece to move and was expensive to procure. And three part harmonies were all too rare in most prog rock decades ago. Don't know how many bands I was with that I was the only other vocalist. Used to say "those dopey white kids..."

Hi Like Ra. Wow, that Bass player is all over the neck and plays really high on the frets with a style (fingers and thumb) I've never before seen. And a five string bass too, somewhat rare. Glad you to like Stanton, smashing drummer. I've included a couple of "rock" songs here with hope that somewhere along the uptime others may either stumble onto this site or members may simply stop by for a taste. The Frost is pure Detroit 60's Rock and I love the guitar tones and another drummer who moves the sticks around. The other is Wishbone Ash, what I consider to be the finest example of English Rock with a classic lineup of Bass, Drums and two Guitars (and equally classic Fender and Gibson combo) playing dual leads. A real "clean" band and were fun live- not too loud nor serious with very few effects, just the occasional WaWa pedal and one also played a steel pedal guitar, unusual in rock. I'm not so much a rocker bur do appreciate well crafted intricacy as again, most music is ho hum.  May not be your cup though perhaps another's.

Is that Mohini you are talking about? She's incredible since her 9 😊 OTOH, she did not have any "usual childhood".

Indeed. She was well taught as her fingering shows classical training- her thumb is in line behind the neck. Most self taught players, particularly Blues and Rock people wrap their thumbs around the neck and very few (with large hands) will actually use the thumb to fret. The same applies to the guitarists with her (maybe the same?) as they make it look sooooooooo incredibly fluid and smooth. Stunning visual treat that's is hard to beat, a tad like a tallish unbuxom smiling, inviting blonde in a nice rubber catsuit. Then again, guys and well just about all the  males of the animal kingdom and many other species are quite visually oriented. Crafty lasses can and do make use of that...

Like I do variety and love high energy music at listenable volumes live. A small venue is so much more intimate as I am also not a heavy drummer, another criticism received lots. Small clubs or halls are splendid. I have an old Silvertone amp from Sears, instant Marshall at 35 watts- has all the distortion needed at low volume. To put that in perspective, a typical Marshall amp has 200 watts (imagine 2 100 watt incandescent light bulbs) and they are louder then Hell. However, I also like soft and simple as this from Sarah is and goes quite well with "Book of Saturday" by Crimson.

Interesting. Either I've never heard of her or there is another one with a similar name/surname. (and no, it's not John McLaughlin, whose work with Shakti is in my top X 😁 ) Strange eerie vocal on the edge of stability. And yet far from the "lingering style" or Astrud Gilberto. Definitely going to investigate her further.

To be honest, I would strip the flute from this particular piece. For some strange reason it adds a whistling tune that "simplifies" the whole number. The trio is good, though.

In my opinion (the goosebumps I'm stably getting from this performance is a proof), it's something beyond the music and words, and something about shamanism. It looks like they are performing in a trance, and the more you listen to it the more you get entrained.
