Hi Like Ra.

As one of "middle age" (a 51 Vintage) stuff happens. Had a stroke due to sinus issues- who would have thought THAT to be a cause? Lost high end hearing the left channel (can't hear crickets anymore) and have a case of permeant "static" in the eye that still works and occasionally simply have a hard time reading the little pixels. Still, the day I quit laughing is the day I'm compost. Today I woke up laughing... Been busy trying to make a living (part of making poor choices when younger) as I pursued the entertainment avenue (comedy, music) and that plays into the square peg/round hole syndrome. For every artist that "makes" it there are 100,000 that don't and end up flipping burgers, washing dishes, pumping petrol (that was once the ONLY way to get fuel in a vehicle, at least stateside), beating cars together and any number of gigs to keep the lights on. Plus, my choice of music is far from popular as I simply hate simple. Stuff I do has more chords in one song than any popular artist has in a whole CD and as primarily a drummer I simply could not abide by just keeping the beat. Listen to pre commercial Genesis or booking Jazz, you'd understand. Most people are simpletons and lack imagination as evidenced by what passes for just about any popular media- film, music and especially broadcast tele. Yeeeeech. Still, I'm upright, got a headful of memories to replay and still occasionally get chance to fish (I like fish or actually like catching more) and a canoe on an open lake, almost a good aa a well suited catsuit. Indeed, I have done both though that was when I had close access to a lake and much more privacy. Living isn SE Michigan has waaaaaaaay too many peoploids about, the price of urban living. So Life goes on and heck if I'm not careful I might have another 30 or 40 years left. I still dream of catsuits and martinis along with more so I'll ring off now and go dream some more.

Tipples,
 Dworkin

Looks like we have similar (or at least intersecting) tastes 😉 But I'm more a King Crimson guy, than an early Genesis one 😁 As for jazz, that's more difficult. I "eat" a lot, but last time I'm more focused on bass (e.g. beginning with Jaco: Viktor Wooten, Richard Bona, SMW, Jonas Hellborg, Mohini Dey) and Indian classical music.

Or in other words: give me polyphony and polyrhythm, and I'm happy 😁

That reminds me to create a music related thread...

A Capital suggestion. Not sure here how many such might find appeal given the nature of this site though as there are certainly those (we) of discriminating tastes I'd surmise more than a few. After all, sophisticated people often are so in more placements. And King Crimson, I gush at the mention, one of the most overlooked and underappreciated groups (in any of the incarnations) that has been about in many forms since 1969. I saw them first back when and shall leave the tale for another Forum thread.

Cheers ( in the key of A)

A major or minor? 😊

Just a joke. But in general I think this is a good idea 😊

I’m all for that.
King Crimson? I don’t think I’ve ever had a chance to listen to them.
And I’m 60s+

There are groups you have to listen to, to get an impression and decide if you like them or not. King Crimson is one of them. When I heard them first time I was astonished to discover what kind of music coexisted around '69-71.

I simply must mention Joni Mitchell's live "Shadows and Lights" with Jaco Pastorius, Pat Metheny and Michael Brecker
