Unless you're not allowed to use PayPal,visa,mc,you_name_it because you didn't die attempting to overthrowing your government...
It may also mean additional taxes and commission for donators which means less $ for you. Besides iirc crypto can also converted to $ on Coinbase just as easily as with PayPal... But some of use aren't allowed to use that one either.
That's kinda the reason why I initially asked if you have an option for cryptos.

Hence, this is true in any case:

Yes when you challenge the stock market it can be a very difficult thing.

If you completely ignore existence of stable coins like usdt then yes, this might be more or less reasonable if you plan to keep crypto as is for years or if those were not donations but fixed $ subscription fees...Â
And if fixed subscription fees are preferable, won't Patreon be a better option than PayPal?

You can do the same with Paypal. Just check "Make this a monthly donation" box.
Patreon is also fine, but they pay via Paypal anyway 😂

So PayPal exclusively with no chance of getting any alternative ways to support your project. Oh well...

I see no better alternatives, really. Paypal is the simplest and the most direct (it's coupled with the provider account - whatever you send goes directly to the hoster).
If you think Pateon is better, please explain, I might miss something. I see it as a proxy between Paypal and Paypal:
user -> Paypal -> Patreon -> Paypal -> hoster
I will look into the crypto stuff - so far I have only an old Monero wallet.
