I see no better alternatives, really. Paypal is the simplest and the most direct (it's coupled with the provider account - whatever you send goes directly to the hoster).
If you think Pateon is better, please explain, I might miss something. I see it as a proxy between Paypal and Paypal:
user -> Paypal -> Patreon -> Paypal -> hoster
I will look into the crypto stuff - so far I have only an old Monero wallet.

I just asked if there's an option to donate via crypto, that's all, because I'm not allowed to use conventional payment systems like PayPal, especially PayPal, because to use it I'd need to use untracked VPN with home network IP of ISP in "civilized" world and commit identity theft on top of that... I mean simple "sorry, no plans yet" would be enough for an answer.
Simple as that.

Aha, Patreon's fee is higher for non-US users.

I like the crypto anonymity, that Coinbase provides:
Coinbase Wrote:What you'll need to create a Coinbase account:
- Be at least 18 years old (we’ll ask for proof)
- A government-issued photo ID (we don’t accept passport cards)
- A computer or smartphone connected to the internet
- A phone number connected to your smartphone (we'll send SMS text messages)
🤣
Errrmmm... Are there any alternatives to Coinbase?

Any Blockchain client and your wallet address. Metamask for ETH or Bitcoin core fore BTC. Metamask is simpler to setup and use.
As alternative to Coinbase there's also bitpay, but I'm not sure.

I thought PayPal require the same data + DNA sample.
Crypto is anonymous only when you use native wallets, like metamask.

Nope, nothing at all.

True, what is very inconvenient. I have a Monero wallet (I even mined Monero), but I don't remember where it is ...

Linode (now Akamai) increased the prices 😕 Now we need $864 annually. Or more, if we need more disk space. And we do.
