The usual problem is that people are going into relationship with unspoken "it's your duty to make me happy" expectation. But it works only as long as hormones are able to fulfill such a job.

My relationship makes me happy! self-sacrifices for the relationship putting it on an unreachable pedestal unable to deal with the realities of what i mean to be in a relationship.
Worse is when you force your happiness onto your partner, instead of just being happy you evaluate & put on the scale every tiny variation. literally micromanaging your partner as to fulfill your idealized relationship while ignoring the disasters of it
