or much simpler (just use it as a pre-amp + phone amp):
Bass -> USB interface -> Phones
The Behringer is more than enough for this purpose, but since musicians highly praise Focusrite, I might use "vox populi" and "argumentum ad populum" and move a step above my quality needs. Also, I love good tools - e.g. it's a pure pleasure to use a professional drill or a sander. Fetishism (and greediness), in other words.
BUT! I'm easily convinced. Just let me know if Behringers will do the trick and even more for much less - and will happily save some money 😋

Rickenbacker 4000 series (or a cheaper Ali copy lol) - very thin neck and small profile. I have a copy I am rebuilding as well as an Aria "lawsuit era" model that I am rebuilding
Gibson or Epiphone SG Standard bass
Schecter Diamond Series (Have one and a beaut to play, even wife likes it and wishes it wasn't lefty as she has small hands lol)
Ibanez also has some great basses and guitars.
Dean are also pretty good.
I'll post pics of some of the basses and guitars I have built or refinished

To be honest, I don't like when strings are covered - I will definitely keep bumping on that thing...
These multiscale ones look great:

A bit more expensive, than I'm ready to pay right now, and they are still too long, I think...

I like Ibanez as well, they're underrated
That is definitely a good starter model!
Bought my Schecter on Ebay as a client return as "not working" for less than $200. All that was wrong? One potentiometer, the volume, was dead lol. Easy replace 😋

Yep, that is the model. You can remove the cover, I do lol. So did wife on her actual Rickenbacker (a birthday gift from me)

Oh those are sweeeeeeet!!! Will be building a multiscale soon, just finishing reading up on the specs to do the frets (angles mainly). Haven't really tried playing one yet, as I can't find any lefthanded nearby to try lol
