For a made to measure leotard, I was expecting it to be extremely tight

Hang on, those two are mutually exclusive. Made to measure can not, should not, must not be extremely tight. It should be very comfortable, as if you are not wearing anything.

I think what he implies are specific spots/isolated areas where wrinkles form & bunch up - with a 'made to fit' spandex item this should never be the case of course.

This is why I prefer Leohex, MJINM, Aesco and similar brands because their generic sizing works out great for 19 - 23 USD.

With brands like Hirogato and Matabushi you pay twice or triple that price and if they still don't fit perfectly.....
