Ps. When I was putting those ankle boots away I noticed that the soles on both were pulling away from the 'uppers'! Seems I'm on the lookout for some good glue or a discreet cobbler!

"Corsetgate" 😆
BTW, is it fully laced down? There is some space in the hips. So, either you need a bit smaller corset or it needs to be laced a bit tighter (what is very difficult with laces behind the back).

Actually that depends how good you are 'behind your back'. It is the same with a bra. Some people have no problem closing it behind their back, and some, like my wife, close it in front and then rotate the bra till the closure is behind.

Regarding the lacing - yes, it's laced all the way down and I've pulled it as tight as I can manage on my own (tight, then breathe out and tighten again, wait, breathe out and tighten again, and so on!). When I've tried to check behind me (mirror or camera on timer) the lacing looks about right, but there's always room for improvement if someone else could be doing the tightening.... 😉
Size wise - from memory I brought this in a 2xl which was supposedly for a 'natural waist of 32-34inches or 81-86cm. The gap around my hips could be a result of me not quite getting the positioning right (I'm no expert on corsets - as demonstrated with 'corsetgate') or, more likely, the fact that I don't have a woman's hips so the profile of my body doesn't quite match the one the corset was designed for.
Very happy to take advice or suggestions on wearing corsets - I am finding them incredibly erotic

I was about to write, what Like Ra has aeady written.
Your corset looks few sizes too big for you. I do not know what size chart is "2XL" in, but looks like you could use much smaller corset. It should hug you all the way down despite not having female hips.
Good corsets sizes are usually in inches of waist circumference when fully laced, so you should aim for 10 cm/4 inches smaller then your natural waist.
Tie your corset while your our outside of it and check its waist.
If you need help tightening the laces, you can try hooking them around door knob and leaning forward to use your body weight to keep the tension while you tighten hole by hole. Just not rip the door away from the wall. 😊
Post a photo from the back so we can see how you lace it.
Regarding buying corset I can recommend Corset Story. In EU you can look at Vinted as this is where you can buy new for a very good price. Corset Story have running promotion where you get more corsets for a price of fewer corsets (3 for 2, 4 for 2 etc.) and I believe people buy more that they need and try to resell it. I have bought one underbust last year and it is uncomparable to some no-name corset I had previously. Now I am waiting for a delivery of black corset shirt with short sleeves also from Corset Story found on Vinted for 25€.
