Could you please try again? Now the thumbnails are loaded directly from the disk, around PHP and ModPagespeed processing, what is good for caching, speed and server load. But I'm still testing...

But please restart the browser and clean the cache.
Just recompressed all thumbnails - ~17% decrease in size.

NOTHING in the logs. Another strange thing, GTmetrics shows increased processing time, while in theory the processing time should be decreased.
