Hard to say how deep this rabbit hole goes, but I think I noticed today that my network was somehow bolstered by in the network section, right clicking on a friend and changing their node type to trusted. Logically that would make sense to me, but I haven't seen anything written about it. I then went ahead and - if people had been up for a long time so I recognized their nick, and were sharing 1GB+ of files, that I upgraded their nodes to trusted.
But! I don't understand the implications of 'trusted' (or the level beyond), and am not clear on the whole 'sign this person's key' functionality. Would any of you learned experts be willing to share any insight / best practices around this? Really is a fascinating app and unbelievable functionality / security!
also if you celebrate - Happy, safe Thanksgiving all.
FWIW I did notice strangely that today I'm displaying 1/820 friends online - but it's behaving regularly - at 40GB uploaded and counting - like my usual peak of ~20/820 online...
I run Retroshare in a Linux Mint VM. I tried growing the VM's filesystem to accommodate my downloaded files, but now when I try to start Retroshare, Tor just hangs at "75% (Loaded enough directory info to build circuits)", and RS never starts. Is there any way to enable verbose logging so I can try to diagnose/debug what's going on?
ETA: removing the "state" and "lock" files in the /tor/ subdirectory did it. Forces it to renegotiate a connection.

Is there away to purge all the boards that have been added in my RS without any interaction on my part?
There are several that very openly reference CP and I want those gone from my setup.
Same with 50+ Forums that have russian names.
I don't see any option to remove them or better yet opt out of them being added unprompted.
Would going to Settings -> Permissions and uncheck (set to block) gsxchannels and gsxforums do the trick?
What is the difference between the short certs starting with AB and the long certs? The long ones work but the short ones I cannot figure out...
