You need more active peers.

How do I find peers? Sorry, I'm new to this and haven't used an application like this before.
Edit found out using chatgbt, that to get peers you need friends or peers in this case, brb to go to reddit to do that.

It's for ClearNet.  If you use Tor/DarkNet, there will be xxxxxxxxx.onion name in the cert instead of the IP-address.

To resolve and participate / share our material should I switch node type to tor/darknet and re-create?  If my IP is static IP through Nordlink:  no harm no foul?
One remaining challenge with NAT is I can't resolve 'I2P Outgoing Okay' light lit up.  Would that preclude me from tor/darknet?

Thank you!

Working through the i2pd challenge I installed it, reading the documentation downloaded the version linked in the official documentation and went to move it over, but windows defender flagged the binary as ' Trojan:Win32/Tiggre!rfn"'.  I'm experienced enough to take the risk on 'unwanted software' or other categories but have to say a trojan gives me pause, and not the first time the supply chain has been infected.

Anyone else have a similar XP with i2pd?

This page:  docs

Windows link from that page that leads here

And the i2pd binary in this package getting flagged

there may be something wrong with tor service. After adding contacts, the 'outgoing connections' is not green.

Where did you find the XML file?
I am struggling to find friends as well even after adding everyone I can on board exchange and here.

I think they may be speaking about this thread as well as the thread they link to:

Here's a late present for anyone just starting out, or who is starting again from fresh. It's an exported list of 438 certs.
To use them, save them to your computer. Rename the extension from .txt to .xml.
Then in Retroshare, on the Network tab, right click in the left hand list and on the pop up menu choose "import friendlist" and add these three files one at a time. Then you can go through your new list at your leisure and send invites to be friends, etc. from the People tab.
Some details:
This list started off with the active list from 2022 found here https://www.likera.com/forum/mybb/Thread...2#pid57862
I've added all the long type certs which start with CQEGA and the short type certs which start with AB.
I did this from page 88 of this forum up to this post.
As it was a mostly automated process some certs may have not been found. Also there's bound to be some old inactive ones in the list as people make new IDs.
If anyone has a cert which does not start with CQEGA or AB please let me know so I can search for those types too.
If people think it's worth adding those before page 88 let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Retroshare Certs 2024-01-20 Part 03.txt (Size: 167.55 KB )

And remember:
- just stay online, to get friends, both you and your peer must be online
- the peer must allow file sharing
- to make the files visible, option "Directory content is visible to friend nodes" (Files -> My files -> Configure shared directories)
- files are accessible indirectly from other peers (use Files -> Search)

Likely stupid questions:  If you are browsing a friend node's files and find a file you want but it's GB size, does it make a difference whether you download from them (let's call that method A) vs then search that filename, assuming a result comes back, you download from the search results (method B)?  Assuming method B is a thing, and is faster:  Is there a right/wrong way to do so - IE is there a specific unique filenameID/hash in retroshare somewhere we should specify to download vs fuzzy search?  Finally, also assuming Method B is a thing and is faster:  If there was a list of files - say - a subdirectory - that you wanted to download:  Do you have to search each file by file or is there a faster method?

I think a word is missing on your first line, but I'll do my best to answer nonetheless!

Method A and B will usually yield the same results, speed wise, and will download the same file.
Download speed is usually more a matter of which peers are online, and stay online.

Method B will allow you to search and download files from nodes your peers are connected with even if you aren't connected with them.
I try to download several version of the same file and see which download works when I see it's stalling.

I know you can download files as collections, but I can't tell you much about it aside it downloads everything included in the collection.

Also: YOU'RE WELCOME!!

Collections basically just allow you to skip the actual finding the file part. They hold all the information needed to download a specific file from a peer while being resilient to file name changes. You can treat them as a "forever reference" to a specific file and it will grab it as long as your peers have it.
anyone else just not seeing people online? 0 of 800 something currently, and the most I've ever seen is 4 or 5.

Keep adding new certs, stay online, and approve connections.

Also, there might be a connectivity problem. 0 peers online is suspicious.
