Has anyone tried to dye a Lycra catsuit before ??
And if so, how did it turn out and durable was it ??
I've only dyed 3D printed nylon objects, using Rit Dye liquid dye.
As with any dye process, it requires really hot water - brought to boiling point beforehand.
I would usually not even consider washing any of my Lycra in warm water - because intensely hot water can potentially
harm the Lycra. Similar effect when you dip ABS casted plastic into hot water, it will fog up; which is basically loads of tiny tiny micro cracks at the surface of the plastic, hazing it up and erasing gloss/shine....and also roughed up to the touch. Same thing with Lycra.
DTG print services online like PAOM and Printful offer some "spandex" items like leggings and swimsuits, but they use a professional DTG process, so that's quite different from DIY dyeing at home.
