Suggestion is persuasion.  From my experience people that say that hypnosis only works if the subject wants it to is either a) ignorant of what is possible or b) being consciously deceptive about phrasing.

I'm starting to think you're not very experienced with hypnosis.

Real hypnosis does make the subject want it, or at least tries. While most people aeady want whatever the file promises (otherwise why would they listen to it?) the fact is that hypnosis makes use of tactics that are aimed at changing both behavior and perception of reality, even if it's something as simple as "you like this now". It encourages playing along until the action becomes habit, or associates arousal with a certain behavior, etc. While it is true that (most) hypnosis cannot make you do anything you aren't willing to do, effective hypnosis changes your willingness so that you are.

No, it doesn't have "too many safeguards". That kind of thinking will get you effects that you don't want because you don't take it seriously.
So the femme part of ourselves (Bambi for thread consistency) was feeling pretty stable in her presence in our consciousness and wondered what it would be like if we all went to visit our old group of esoteric seekers for a 4-day retreat of 'being together', art work, rhythmic ritual posing (dance?), shared tasks and discussion of abstract, abstruse concepts roughly around the topics of "what's this 'existence thing' all about anyway?", "why are we here?", "what's does it all mean?".

Most of all, it was great to be around others with strong personal commitments around not expressing negative emotions.

Our imagination was very mixed around talking 'Bambi' to such an event feeling both confident and a bit fearful and 'very exposed' but in a sort of exciting way - like misbehaving but not bratty - more like a 'confident assertion of existence' in that area of our consciousness.

What kind of effects

... which are suggested by hypnosis and which you don't want. In general. Nothing in particular. Imagine whatever you want (or, rather, don't want).
