Looking at the info you posted, looks like anything BUT the mercury method is safest.

If you can find a pneumatic fleshlight type device, it could go on, pressurize with a squeeze bulb, then measure the pressure with a pressure sensor. I'd put a clamp type valve in the line between squeeze bulb and rest of circuit to prevent leakdown.
