I used the Firefox "Tools ➤ Page Info" technique that's been discussed here before.  The resulting file weighed in at 442 MB with length 1:04:29, but the video resolution is only 640 x 360.

I suspect Hypnotube is reducing the resolution to save on filesystem usage.

Please may I ask, does anyone have TomTame's back catalogue in high definition? Unfortunately, their original MEGA was taken down some time ago. They've since made a new one, but it only has the most recent videos. If I remember correctly, their old MEGA had all their videos in high quality (so basically everything that's on hypnotube currently), plus 1 to 200 shorts. The full videos and the shorts were split between two different folders. I'm a good girl and can be trusted not to share any links! Pretty please!

HT definitely does drop the resolution to lower streaming traffic, but if you log in you gain a little gear icon on every video (bottom right, next to fullscreen) that allows you to choose between what they call "720p" and "480p" (and the setting holds for future vids). The 442 MB file is their "480p" copy. The bigger, better file still isn't 1080 or 4k or anything, but it's better than what you get if you don't log in.

As a side note, if you log in then that same gear popup contains a download link so you don't need to jump through hoops to get the file. I still use Video DownloadHelper (browser extension) though because I'm lazy and it auto-titles the files for me.

Yep. I spent months sadly watching low res videos after they crippled them to deal with traffic issues. Then one day logged in to see someone's "friends only" video and noticed the gear had more options. Then immediately spent the next couple of hours re-downloading to replace the crap versions from those dark days.

Oh and hypnotube doesn't log you out every day like it used to, in case that was keeping anyone from bothering to log in.

Still download anything you can from other sources if available though. I know a few things are posted both on hypnotube and pmvhaven and haven almost always has a higher res copy.
