I had to post this one, because I've made exactly the same mistake! 

     

Fortunately in my case the timer was for a vibrator, so the worst that happened was I didn't get the thrill I wanted, but be warned if you are using those kind of timers for more important things!

The key is under the tablet. In theory you shouldn’t be able to reach forwards to grab the key to unlock the wrist cuffs until the neck collar unlocks, in practice there is nothing holding your arms and legs in that position and you could easily just reach forwards while moving downwards to grab the key. This concept could work if the collar was attached to a point above or behind the head.

Step one - Lock yourself into the device, there is a small butt plug that you insert inside yourself , then a larger plug that is too big, but would give you more control if you could manage it. 

Step two - Start the timer, this does three things: Locks the cuffs around your wrists to the box (a magnetic latch would work), activates the vibrators in both plugs and starts the sequence to drop a heavy metal ball into the maze puzzle.

Step three - Try to steer the ball so that it will drop through the specific hole that will make it strike a sensor and score a 'point'

The challenge - get enough points so that the magnet is de-activated and you are released (the target can be manually pre-set or randomly assigned for any number between 10 and 30) earlier than the minimum 60 minute timer.  The ball is endlessly recycled through the puzzle until either you have scored enough points to be released or the time expires and automatically releases you.

The penalty - If there isn't a point scored when the ball is recycled back into the puzzle an ESTIM shock will be administered via the small butt plug. You can endure this or try to move onto the larger plug if it gets too much, which will allow for better control of the puzzle too.

But be aware that simply pulling off the small plug to avoid the ESTIM shocks means you have no control at all over the puzzle and will remain bound for the duration of the timer.

Advanced users have the options to include ESTIM on the larger plug too and/or make each non-scoring ball add another minute to their self-bondage session (to a maximum of 60 minutes).

Additionally more balls can be added to the machine so that you can more quickly score points, but the risk is that you might have to endure more ESTIM shocks and longer self-bondage for all the ones that don't score.

I think, and this is only my imagining based on what I can see in the drawing, that there is some kind of waist strap arrangement that holds the bar (with plug in my version) tight to the crotch of the 'player'. The puzzle board itself is fixed to the same bar, with an unseen (in the image) vertical ball-joint type pivot point, and further supported by the tube that feeds the ball into the maze. 

It would be quite unstable, but that's the point of the game - move it too violently or break it and you stay stuck until the timer releases the magnetic latch holding the cuffs in place. (And maybe suffer the ESTIM as you can never hit the scoring point?).

I'm still trying to figure out what the foot pedal might do (on the player's right side of the puzzle board) 

The joy is that this is a day-dream fantasy scenario, so it can be whatever I, or you, wish it to be and can work to our own imagining 😁
