The principle, I think, is that instead of tumblers you use up/down/left/right movements to unlock ( I'm thinking of them as cardinal directions - North, East, South and West).

It offers the possibility of being set by someone else and given/sent to someone to complete their self-bondage (too big for chastity cages?) - leaving them locked up until they receive the passcode. 

Importantly I think it might overcome the issue with tumbler type combination locks that always need the combination to be set in order to close the lock.

I seem to have difficulties with Ali search. I search "armbinder" and I get no relevant results, but I still see armbinders in related product recommendations, even with the exact word in the article name.

This is how Ali algorithm and affiliation/promotion work together. For example, "adult" stuff is not "promoted" by Ali, and usually do not generate affiliation earnings. Usually, such items rarely appear in the searches, but they do appear in similar or related products at the bottom of items pages.

In reverse, irrelevant items constantly appear in the searches. Have a look at the right panel - you might see some very strange stuff there, like bags, wheels, sneakers, caps, etc.

Ali constantly tweaks its "AI"-algorithm, but, in my opinion, it only gets worse.

How about some inexpensive magnetic locks?

Downside is they don't come with a magnet, and you need to find one of the strong neodynium ones.
But they will snap closed without the magnet.

Now I just need to work out what to fabricate with them.
