That's very understandable - they implemented age verification, based on the 3d party (a10tix from Israel) check result. Ali does not keep any data, they only receive "yes" or "no" from au10tix.

I tried to look at some things, and then they demanded a photo, at which point I got out. Do they ask more, or can you just send any photo?

They want a selfie taken on the mobile or webcam - not going to do that

Tried Temu today. It looks like they use Gandi SAS (a registrar company from France). The company itself seems trustworthy, but the site is hosted on AWS. They asked for my ID.

If ebay starts requiring age verification, Temu/Gandi seems the best way forward. I might even do it *before* ebay blocks me, just in case they (Temu) change their mind and switch to some other company.

Why are they better than Ali/AU10TIX?

AU10TIX (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AU10TIX) provides authentication to X/Twitter, Airbnb, Paypal, LinkedIn, Fiverr.

Must be location. Here in Canada I use Temu often, for clothes, some guitar parts, household stuff, models, etc and not once asked for age verification or ID.
