Every time I've tried to import anything into the UK from outside the EU I've always been hit with a MASSIVE tarriff (with only one exception). That's only one of the reasons I voted remain. Plus, there's always a description of what's inside on the box it arrives in.
Sadly, the inmates are now running the asylum 😟 Those rules will apply to importing anything from anywhere into the UK shortly so if you're in the UK and want anything from the likes of ALiExpress get your finger out!

Just ask them to declare a lower price. Usually it works (not always 😟 )

Ahem.
Confession time.
The only import I ever got away with not paying duty on (and it was many years ago) was a screen-worn Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi) costume from 'Star Trek: The Next Generation'. It was shipped to me from the USA described as a 'blue dress' (which I suppose was techically accurate).

The problem with NL posts is that it charges you 19euro minimum for "taking care of the import taxes" plus the VAT and customs tax if needed. Several times the resulting "taxes" were higher that the purchase prices. Ridiculous...

On the other hand, if I order from UK/DE/DK, shipping costs are 10€, sometimes even more , for a small package like panntyhose ...
We don't pay taxes if value is less then 22 € , but if it's 23€, then I will pay additional 20 € for taxes and other BS... 😟

I never had issues in the recent years with packages under 100€, on Aliexpress I usually ask the seller to put "clothing" on the label, rather than anything specific and that works out fine.

AFAIK, "jeans" (also "clothing") fall under a specially taxed category. From time to time I get mails from the customs to provide more clarification and price/cost confirmation.

I think it's 20€ for most categories...

It should be in EU.
If the seller declare modifyed value, customs may ask for the invoice, and if that is missing or modifyed, you need to show credit card list of payment and order details from Ali, eBay, etc.... Sometimes they just let go, but if the product is technical and in kind of a big box, they will follow the procedure

I tried to order off of Aliexpress once and they wanted me to send them photos of my ID or my bank cards so I canceled and never tried again. I often find things I would like to have there but I would prefer not to have to send my ID to China. Has anyone else, here, been asked to show ID? Is it safe?
I am going to look at the sale, however.

What???? Ah... I think I saw this warning once when tried to pay for too many items at once. 1,2 or 3 by one is OK until you have a good history record. Also, now you can pay with Paypal.
