Do you have a backup/export of your profile?
Over the last days I’ve setup RS on 3 systems:

Linux Mint
Flatpak: Crashes on start
Appimage: Instable Tor connection

Windows 11
Installed x64: Takes ages to connect to Tor
Portable x64: Works OKish

MacOS (Tahoe, Apple Silicon/ARM)
There is no native Apple Silicon/ARM version, so the Apple Rosetta is needed
On startup RS throws an error: Tor is missing
Providing the path to Tor as parameter solves that
Fastest Tor connection so far

I wanted to run a Linux system 24/7, but can’t make it work.

Anyone running RS on Linux (which Distro) with a stable Tor connection?

I have been running it on a fedora GUI docker container (webtop:fedora) on my linux server and basically never have stability issues. It has been running for a year and I dont remember having any crashing issues like I did with a bad package on arch. My uptime is only impacted by me restarting my server and forgetting to relaunch retroshare (Which happens once every few months so sorry to anyone who tries to download stuff from me when I forget and go offline for a few weeks at a time)
I just added the fedora 39 retroshare repo and installed that package (even though I'm running fedora 41)

I used to have the webui set up to compile from source and run but it didnt work well enough at the time and I havent revisited that yet but it was pretty stable as well.

The most recent flatpak build does not run on Linux Mint 21.3, you need to use the next most recent one:

Code:
flatpak remote-info --log flathub cc.retroshare.retroshare-gui
        ID: cc.retroshare.retroshare-gui
       Ref: app/cc.retroshare.retroshare-gui/x86_64/stable
      Arch: x86_64
    Branch: stable
Collection: org.flathub.Stable
  Download: 42.0 MB
Installed: 106.5 MB
   Runtime: org.kde.Platform/x86_64/5.15-24.08
       Sdk: org.kde.Sdk/x86_64/5.15-24.08

Do not use the 2025-12-06 build, use the 2025-08-22 one. There are lots of instructions around the web on how to downgrade a flatpak package and then pin it against future upgrades.

Maybe a future build will work, I don't know. Or maybe I should upgrade Mint 21 to 22.

Update:
The downgrade of the flatpak did the job (I'm on Mint 22.3).
Thanks again.

Glad that worked for you.
Do we need to use Tor, or is the Retroshare app alone enough?

Also, does retroshare show my IP by default? What if I wish to hide it from everyone?

Retroshare with Tor only

Yes

Use RetroShare with Tor 😉

My Antivirus is saying that the links for steps 3 and 4 aren't safe. I take it we use Tor for those links?
