Charlotte Grey and some others have been screwed by local legislation. In her case, the UK passed a law that heavily restricted access to porn for without payment to limit access by minors. All of her files were free, but ever since that was passed she's been forced to charge for them, though she's put almost no effort into taking down other places where those files are available, such as hypnodb.

Anonymistress died in a climbing accident IIRC. Mistress Zaida went broke, I think, and now she's dropped off the face of the earth. That makes me the saddest, her files are still my favorites by far.

You can track some pretty terrible stories, too. Emily Astrom gets forced into making videos as part of an abusive relationship, or at least that's what people think. I remember maybe a year ago also hearing something about a patreon creator who repeatedly abused subs and then changed his name when he got called out, but for the life of me I don't remember the name.

There's weird stuff, too. If you look into the history of CORE you'll wonder whether these people have their heads on straight or if they're just nuts -- talk of leadership vaccuums, hostile takeovers of the hivemind, and stuff like that. It sounds like some sort of big roleplaying session sometimes, and now there's like 8 discords that all do it slightly differently.
