According to NATO "rules", this should be treated as a "attack on NATO country" and shut down. Guys in NATO command center in Spain were obviously watching TV. Unfortunately, we are paying them to do that. Nah...

First of all, it is unacceptable that Russia has started this war! And I cannot see any rational explanation for this. However:

I think, Ukraina is the victim of a much larger game, involving Russia, Nato, USA, EU and perhaps others. Saying "Putin is mad" and the like won't help understand, what is really going on, it simplifies matters.
There is a saying "it needs at least two to start a war" and there are also bystanders, provokers etc. And even though it might be impossible to get the bigger picture, it is still worth trying to get some idea.

I’ve only rarely sung this song in the many years since it was written, because I never thought it would be relevant again. But, in the light of one man’s bloody and woefully misguided decision to invade a peaceful, unthreatening neighbor, the song is, once again, a plea for our common humanity. For the brave Ukrainians fighting against this brutal tyranny and also the many Russians who are protesting this outrage despite the threat of arrest and imprisonment - We, all of us, love our children. Stop the war.

I am not at all sure that the decision to start the war was a mistake and there were other ways to protect their interests. Many people think that Putin is crazy, but I see how his country has changed under his leadership. How much he does for the comfortable and safe life of his citizens. War is very bad. But this is still the last argument. Probably there were no other exits.
