Do you click on the "Reply" button, or first highlight the text/picture and click on the nameless button to the left of "Reply"?
Just in case, quoting with the "Quote" button will not quote attachments, for the reasons I tried to explain above. Highlight and quote with the nameless button works, if you remove .pageview.xxxxxxxx.jpg part from the thumbnail image name (this part needs to be addressed by a plugin tweak).

Click on the green arrow in the thread view or in the "Latest threads" section.
Ahhh ok. Must be a mobile vs full website view thing.
Never seen any green arrows.
Yes, the mobile version is very lightweight and very stripped down...

That was it - I had been using the Reply button (silly me, thinking that hitting the Reply button was the way to reply!).  It could be useful to have that stated more explicitly somewhere (especially for those new to the forum).  Maybe a hover-tooltip that explains that Reply strips images?

Yes, a FAQ is in the way... Since years ago.... 😁

Yes, I was thinking about it, but I could not decide what would be the best way to do it. So, I left it "to be discovered".
