There must be a way to get into a decently tight hogtie that's not immediately uncomfortable, and I had a few ideas.
The prepared loop of rope that I can put on as a vest with a ring at my neck got an extra ring on the other side, so halfway my back. Because tethering my ankles to the ring at my back makes the ropes hurt my neck and armpits when I struggle, so I'm going to try tethering it lower.
I'm adding a ring at my thighs. I do the normal wrapping the rope around my wrists and then a few cinch loops, but then I pull the end of that rope loop through the loop at my thighs and lock it to a rope connected to a ratchet at the ring at my neck. So when pulling the ratchet, my wrists get pulled down towards my thighs instead of up towards my shoulder blades as I normally do.
For the hogtie I'm using a carabiner at my ankles because I don't know how long it will be comfortable, and I want to try getting it quite tight for at least a little while. So the plan is to keep pulling until it feels really tight, enjoy it for a bit, then unhook the carabiner to undo the hogtie and remain in non hogtie bondage for a little longer as the ice lock is set up to release my wrists.

It felt really nice, I should try that again. Watching the video the hogtie is definitely not as tight as the pro models but for an old amateur like me, it was tight enough. Next time I'll try to hold on a bit longer. Some upper arm and torso bondage is missing, but I didn't want to risk getting everything tangled up.
