Came out to a gay male friend about my SB predilictions the other day, and he offered to be a safety. 

So now there's somebody I can call and say 'If I don't call back by 8pm, get right over to my house, come in and rescue me'

Some thoughts.

+ It's always good to have an additional safety "method"
+ He can always come over and play with you (ha-ha...)
+ You can try more risky scenarios
+ He can make photos of you to share on this site
+ You can tie each other in turn (not self-bondage, but so what?)

- You are shifting the responsibility to another person
- You can try more risky scenarios, but are you sure he will be in time?
- He can make photos of you to share with ...

As always, play safe and rely on yourself only.

Wish I had a safety person.

But that just gave a scary idea that would be great for an emergency release.

Over here we have a service called " Life Alert ".
They give you a device that you wear around your neck. If you fall, you can call for help. But, if you DROP it on the floor, it will automatically call dispatch. If you don't respond, they'll send everybody.

Of course you'll have some explaining to do, but you will be rescued.

- You are shifting the responsibility to another person  - Nope. I'm deepening my safety game. Not stopping any prior safety precautions.

- You can try more risky scenarios, but are you sure he will be in time? - no, never sure, though somebody who'se a friend is a good choice.

- He can make photos of you to share with ... True, but again, a platonic friendship involves more trust than that.

As always, play safe and rely on yourself only. -  I try to avoid relying on any single thing. Anything can break, any system can fail unsafe. Redundant systems top to bottom.

This discussion has made me think I should test the system. Some evening I'll ask him to guard, and will NOT do SB. I should probably ask him to call me at the appointed time. If I don't answer, he's to come. That 'watchdog's the system.
