As far as safety measures go, are you meaning just a time-based release system?

If so, I can think of one way it can be done:
Similar setup to the videos above, but the plug itself is on another pole that's held up by a pin going through it. 

This pin has a hole drilled through the end of it so a padlock can go in to lock it into the pole. Put a timer lock in there.

Push the pole up to the proper height, tighten the screw that holds the pole at that height, and drop the Allen key. Commence squirming.

Once the timer on the lock is up, you can undo the lock, push the pin through, and drop the bar that it was holding up, giving you that clearance you need to get free.

Extra safety measure: use a pin that has a hole drilled on both ends. One hole has a padlock with a key to it that an emergency contact can use to push it out, and the other hole has the timer lock.



Seeing that first video, I'm surprised the camera person did not ask that girl to take off her high heels after she was on the bar. That would have put it way up in there and be completely inescapable.
