Looks beautiful. Not sure about "practicality" (if I can use this word here). Depends on what are you going to do with that suit. Can be good for a party. Obviously for bondage. Begs for taking photos 😉

I have it and I was disappointed:
Legs are too lose
The fin is very soft
I think, a mermaid suit should really turn the legs into one extremity and the fin should be an extention to the feet. The tail that I made almost fulfils the first requirement, I might insert a piece of rigid cloth around the knees and a wide hem around the ankles. It still lacks a fin but that will come eventually.
