It depends. There are "clear types" (like me, for example). And those groups of similarly behaving/feeling/sensing people are called "types" 😉 (04 Jun 2024, 08:21 )Anne Wrote: - people are different and their minds work different, accept itYes (04 Jun 2024, 08:21 )Anne Wrote: - if your are an E, learn how to be an I and vice versaNot quite. There are "I" functions and there are "E" functions. Through years we "fill in" all functions, both strong and weak ones. Is it a very trustable one-size-fits all test? Not at all. Can it show up some tendencies? Yes. MBTI is not based on science. It's based on observations by Carl Gustav Jung who did not followed the scientific method. For some reason it got popular in HR departments of big companies and I guess it's fun to fill in a test online and compare with your friends. Don't mention science and MBTI in the same sentence to a psychiatrist. Anyway, that's not the point I'm trying to make. I was trying to say: don't let your MBTI type be an excuse for you to put yourself down. "It's hard for me because I'm an ABCD", that's not what it's supposed to do. Don't let it be an excuse for bad behaviour of others "don't mind him, he's an WXYZ". I'm not saying MBTI is nonsense or worthless! These 3 days in training taught me a lot. I gained a better understanding of my fellow men and a tool to do self improvement. It opened my eyes, I learned that my colleagues reasoning works in a different way than my own even when we do the same job and come to the same conclusions in the end. Just don't confuse it with science, don't make any important decisions based on MBTI. If your hiring manager refuses a candidate because he is an ABCD and wouldn't fit in the team he is wrong. Even the trainer and the course material I got state this very clearly. Being intuitive person, "I have no body", I'm not grounded, you can clearly tell intuitive type from sensory one. Some things are if not impossible but very difficult for me. Yes, I improved them during all these years, but they are still the weakest points. My wife is my dual, so it's very interesting to compare realities. I'm logic, she's ethic, I'm intuitive, she's sensory, I'm extrovert, she's introvert. Everybody has his/her strong functions/points and weak points, I don't think anybody would object to that. Typology simply groups such people. This group of people can perfectly identify personal relationships, this group are afraid of any pressure, etc. RE: Psychological Types - brandynette - 04 Jun 2024 It's science. You postulate an idea & fix the question: which of the 16 personalities do you behave like? To solve the issues & we collect data. We generate our individual theories. Share & try to prove our side of the theory. We collect data. We update your premise on results & new data. We generate theory of self. We share & prove our data & theory. Rinse & repeat. It might be psychological & well beyond hard physics facts while being wildly subjective, but we are the subjects undergoing the examinations while sharing our data & comparing. Seems like science to meee RE: Psychological Types - Like Ra - 05 Jun 2024 Ohhh.... please install the spell checker... During my life I learned that everybody operates according to their own personal logic, which may have not much to do with mathematical logic. If you really want to communicate with somebody, it helps a lot if you understand the other persons logic. I am afraid that some politicians understand this way too well. From personal experience I can say that healthcare professionals roll their eyes when you mention MBTI, my psycholochist does not even discuss it when I bring it up.(04 Jun 2024, 21:07 )Anne Wrote: MBTI is not based on science. Don't let the label define you, you are who you are regardless of the label. Use the test result to learn more. MBTI helps to identify your "weak" areas. Nurish your strong points and improve on your weak ones. Become more complete, grow as a person.(04 Jun 2024, 21:07 )Anne Wrote: don't let your MBTI type be an excuse for you to put yourself down. Why? All types are absolutely needed and important! Being intuitive person, "I have no body", I'm not grounded, you can clearly tell intuitive type from sensory one. Some things are if not impossible but very difficult for me. Yes, I improved them during all these years, but they are still the weakest points. Yes! You improved your weak points. They are still not your strongest but you improved! Fill in a questionaire and get a list things you should try to work on to grow! It's like my nephew with autism. Lots of trouble at school, then he got tested, got a label, got help and is doing fine now. Still the same person but the label helped him get the help he needed to grow. I used to be the quiet kid getting passed over, getting ignored. This continued into my working life. I actively worked on my communication skills, verbally and non verbally, improved a lot and became more "extroversion". This still doesn't come naturally to me, I'm still an I type, very much so, but it does get easier over the years because I kept putting in the work and it did wonders for my career. I also know I have to schedule some quiet time for myself to recharge. I could have maybe figured this out on my own eventually but MBTI was a great help to make me realise this and identify what I needed to do. So yes, by all means, take the test results and go on learn more about yourself. It helped me a lot. But don't confuse it with science. Don't judge people based on their type because, as explained, people can improve their weak points, fail to nurture their strong points, be lazy, be assholes, be amazing,... regardless of their type. RE: Psychological Types - madjack - 05 Jun 2024 I'm not a alphabet of acronyms - I'm a free man! 😁 I have a very healthy level of scepticism about any 'test' or 'assessment' that takes place in less than a month of observing someone closely in their natural habitat (home, office, whatever). But, more out of curiosity than anything else, I did take this test https://uquiz.com/quiz/EUCZE1?p=3406913 And apparently I'm: ENFP, IEE - Insightful: keenly discerns the motives of other people. Gravitates towards the capable and the extraordinary personalities. Knows how to cheer up someone, how to instill hope. Advises on ways out of difficult life situations Oh, and for the record, I have even less faith in test questions and result that includes so many speeeeeling mistakes!!! ![]() Personally I always think of myself simply as: MJ MJ RE: Psychological Types - Like Ra - 05 Jun 2024 (05 Jun 2024, 11:19 )madjack Wrote: I have even less faith in test questions and result that includes so many speeeeeling mistakes!!!I'm going to contact the guy, who entered the test onto that site. Apparently, the original test comes from Gulenko- one of the socionics "fathers". So, it should be in Russian, then translated to English by someone. I can not findd the test on Gulenko's site, but they conduct paid testing. https://socioniks.net/en/ |
