This is a bit of an ambiguous point. Many names have a different history in different languages. Like the English talk about The Hague rather than Den Haag. And the Dutch write Londen and not London. Or Parijs and not Paris. Etc. Nobody takes offense there even though there have been some wars in the past.

In this situation we must not forget that first victim of war was truth. We no longer get news articles and facts, but heavily biased opinionated half truths and blatant fakes from both sides trying to make other side look like a monster.
I see west chose to take everything coming from Ukraine as 100% unbiased truth and completely dehumanize Russian population and people in disputed separatists regions ( for dpr/lpr you prefer to even ignore their existence, like there are no civilians stuck there and Ukraine didn't bomb that region for at least 8 years).
But all in all this situation is huge win for Twitter, first time in history they canceled whole nation, country and it's culture.

Yes, while RU "stole" Crimea, Osetia, and about to "steal" DNR/LNR, US territory did not increase. I see no justification of deaths here.

So as long as another country commit war crimes without annexing territory of other country it's all fine an dandy? ( That's a rhetorical question ... )
My point is: you really know nothing about conflict, I know pretty much as much as you do and same can be said for other regular people who's only source of information is mass media and internet.
For non-russian/Ukrainian speaking people it's even worse, because western sources are extremely one sided.

Video 2: Dead civilians, dead semi burned naked raped women on streets, etc

RU reaction 3: It's all staged by Ukrainians! The corpse was moving! The same Instagram girl was the corpse and the covered in blood mother with a kid!
Video 5: Destroyed Mariupol
RU reaction 1: We do not bomb/shell civilian objects
RU reaction 2: Azov battalion put explosives in the buildings before leaving Mariupol, blew everything up and blamed us.
