NoFap can actually help in some cases. At 14, and until about 23-24, the brain is still growing, very plastic, and things can be both done and undone more easily in some respects, than later on. Also, at 14-15 is the perfect age to spend a year in a weird "insane" state, which in the past was culturally encoded as "OMG I'm in love" or "OMG I'm unhappily in love". In the sense that people have a number of more or less hardwired biochemical eruptions that happen at certain points in life (after puberty; after school; middle age for example), and in the more trad times these were mostly culturally encoded as to do with love and heartbreak. When you literally feel insane, can't eat, can't sleep, everything feels weird, you want to howl at the moon. Hence all of pop culture being about love and heartbreak. It's banal stuff until it hits you. But when it does hit you, suddenly what used to be banal stuff is now cosmic wisdom. The lyrics in the pop songs and the dialogues in the soaps suddenly become hard-hitting stuff, giggle. Later, toward the end of the 20th century, due to a number of factors, many people started encoding the same "biochemical insanity event" as "OMG I'm actually gay". And it also works that way. It turns out a great many "identities" can be powered by the same energy source. Later still, as in these days, this energy increasingly powers "OMG I'm trans". Although it's the same energy that powered "OMG I'm gay" in 2005, and "OMG I'm so in love" in 1995 and before that. All at the same junctions in life. Where a guy in a midlife crisis would leave his wife because "he suddenly fell in love with an amazing waitress", and a generation later "because he realized he's gay", now it's "because he realized he was a woman all along". Same energy, same life junction, different encoding. So I guess what I'm saying, kid, is that it's up to you decide how to harness this biochemical event you're going through. I suggest going trad: anchor yourself through the Orthodox anti-hypno, through old timey flicks with Sean Connery and Clint Eastwood and early Steven Seagal, read some Conans, and find a girl which to be "very in love with" hehe. And later, when you've bounced back, and rebuilt yourself in a new and improved version, you can go back to experimenting with stuff like substances and porn and hypno, but this time in a much more aware manner. About old timey films--they really are therapy. Also pay attention to how the men and women look there, before corporations and psychopaths started dictating warped versions of masculinity and femininity. Roger Moore as James Bond, or Sean Connery--no hyperbolic muscles, no crude grunting and swearing. Being generally in shape and having a sense of taste IS masculine. Likewise you will see what normal pretty women looked like before everything went to hell, including everybody's endocrine systems. Use old timey media as an anchor to normality, it'll help. Cartoonish bombast also helps. Try Conan (1982) or some 1980s Heavy Metal. In the heavy metal you can see that playing around with being androgynous, being super phallic at one moment and acting girly the next is also completely OK. In a sense David Bowie started this, and Mick Jagger, back in the early 1970s. Everything is going to be OK. Don't fret too much. Angsty pining and feeling crazy at 14 is normal. Just don't let warping external forces convince you how to encode your experience. You get to decide and you alone. And for this to happen do three things: 1) Take a step back from the Internet for a while, so that you body and mind can regain some sort of natural equilibrium. Maybe rediscover films, books, music, walks. Getting off 99% of the Internet instantly cuts through the b.s. concerning "what is the real me". After a few weeks without social media or regular forums "the real me" comes sharply into focus, and the external influences melt away like the illusory b.s. they always were. 2) Don't allow groups or institutions to tell you 'what your identity is'-- that's entirely your choice. 3) Expand your access to media. Try films and music from different eras and different cultures. The bigger your context the bigger your choices. Read a Nigerian newspaper for a couple of days, see how it strikes you. And don't worry about erections and sexual performance and stuff. Concentrate on regaining balance and anchoring, and everything else will happen automatically as a result of that. But even if from time to time erections aren't constantly iron hard--that's also super normal. Lastly, although this sounds absurd at 14, do try to wank less. Once a day is good, twice a week even better. And try to wank quickly to imagination, or soft erotica, not half the night to hard porn. Give the nervous system a break for a bit. Let's imagine you want to stop smoking. If you formulate your intention as "I want to stop smoking" or "I want smoking removed", or "I want smoking", so, in fact you will concentrate on "smoking". See what I mean? Instead, you might "meditate" on a good health, good physical form, high energy level, clear mind, having a good memory, being kind to everybody, etc. After some time the egregore of smoking will stop bothering you, because if you stop feeding the troll, the troll will ignore you. You change your perception of the world by changing the subject of your attention. Whatever your attention is busy with is getting your energy. And if you are not aware what you are currently thinking about, looking at, listening to - your energy goes everywhere, what means nowhere - you loose your energy. It's you who must decide, what you are going to spend your energy/time/money on. What means you have to be aware of what you are doing and thinking about. And this is exactly what's called "mindfullness" (a terribly overused word). How to achieve that? You can start with learning to control/be aware of your body, then control/be aware of your emotions, then control/be aware of your thoughts. And this process is what yoga and qigong are about. Instead of weird egregors or deities your concentrate on your body, on your feelings, on yourself, what increases your energy and makes all other parasites dry out (without your energy) and fall off. |
