Like Ra - My workflow worked something like this:
- load source files into Reaper on separate tracks
- slice them into logical pieces (based on my preference, mostly to remove some parts and repeat others)
- scramble the pieces (some were duplicated in the process)
- merge some pieces into bigger chunks (should overlap 1-3 seconds for a soft transition)
- compose the main elements on the track
This was created rather quickly for testing, so some low-quality issues are present (you can hear when one track ends and another begins, due to their different styles).
If you want to get into this kind of work, I recommend using headphones or monitor speakers and carefully re-listen on every edit (usually multiple times).
But a word of warning, one time I was trying to adjust the Nikki Fatale session and I lost myself in the trance for many minutes, her voice was so pleasant to listen to.
It never happened to me with Bambi files, but everyone have different triggers.
