This isn't directed at you Tinker D, but you raise a good point. If there is psychological damage it is certainly something that happened before and the sex dolls are filling a need created by that damage. But still, there is a human physical need for human intimacy. I don't see robots negating that. I can see sexbots working as a kind of antidepressant (it doesn't make you not depressed, it just makes you stop caring that you are depressed) without people coming to terms with the issues that need to be addressed. Talking to AI is definitely an experience and one that might help a few people to explore things they haven't before. I enjoyed testing the responses of the AI when put in different situations. However, I feel like the ease of it all is too dangerous, especially crossing the bridges: unrealistic expectations, and the desire to bond with others.
Just going jump in on this AI stuff and the dangers it can do to the whole human race.
