I'm not entirely sure about the reliability of the counter weight on the first pic. Seems to me that you'll need more than a bottle full of water to fix the legs on that position. Then again, the intention is to be there for no more than a few minutes, so I don't know. If anyone has used counter weights before, how was your experience?
