Complete embarrasment... - self-bondage gone wrong

This just happened and I'm totally shaking. I was doing another session and when the ice lock released I found out I didn't route all the ropes right and I got stuck. I was in handcuffs and I found the key but because of the position of my hands I could not get the key in the keyhole. So I tried to get to my scissors but was totally disorientated and could not find them and trashed the entire room in my quest to find them. 

Realising that my next option was getting a knife or scissors from the kitchen meant having to take stairs while (loosely) hogtied and blindfolded was a stupid idea I started yelling for help. 

My neighbour heard me, couldn't get in because I forgot to unlock my doors when I got home so he called my girlfriend, who's on vacation this week, my parents got called, the police showed up. I told them my parents have a spare key so a few minutes later to police officers entered my house and unlocked my handcuffs.

I applaud there professionalism as they were very polite and did not say or do anything to embarrass me. I said I was OK, didn't need an ambulance or any further assistance and they left. Then I had to explain to my parents what I was doing and my girlfriend called me so I had to tell her as well. "I was making a movie where I have a scene where I'm tied up but I fell on the handcuffs and because of that they closed so tight that I was unable to get get the key in the keyhole. Very stupid as I was holding the key..."

I hope that explanation was sufficient and nobody will ask any further questions...

I'm not leaving my house for a year and hope the gossip machine doesn't do it's thing and I have to explain to everybody in town why the police showed up with sirens and flashing lights at my door only to wait for my parents to open the door...

I was close to ask for help once. I was handcuffed, I was holding the key, I could get the key into the hole, but could not hold the cuffs aligned to unlock them behind my back. Fortunately, I was not totally bound and was able to bring my cuffed hands in front of me (while severely pinched some nerves and brused skin).

By the way, this was my outfit the police found me in:

I told them my parents have a spare key so a few minutes later two police officers entered my house and unlocked my handcuffs.

My cuffed hands where pulled up because I was doing a box tie with hand cuffs so no way to position them where I could unlock them. My wrists are seriously bruised now.

I think they have experience with these kind of situations because they heard me talking and asked very direct questions so I could just yell yes or no through my gag. When they entered they even ask without hesitating if I could "remove my ball gag myself", their words, so they knew what a ball gag is.

Wow! I saw the photo, but I could not imagine where the cuffs were! So, box-ties are very effective if done properly.

So glad you're ok and nothing physically worse than bruised wrists.

I simply can't imagine what that must have felt like, I really hope you recover quickly and there's no lasting trauma.

But back to "lessons learned"

Can we call it rule #1? Before starting the session, make sure knives/scissors can be accesses while bound and are not dangerously placed? Even if they are not required for the release. Some extra difficulties can be intended. E.g. a knife on the floor downstairs.

I managed to get downstairs while bound, so it's possible. But! Could you get to the knife while on the floor in the kitchen? Hogtie usually means "no".

While struggling trying to undo the tangled mess, I was still convinced then that it was just the part of the ice lock getting stuck and I could get it loose after which all would be fine, I slipped of the bed on the completely wrong side. Farthest from the door, my scissors where on the other side.

No problem, I can wiggle my way around. For the video I moved a lot of stuff off camera to get a better video for you all so I had to work through a lot of random stuff and boxes, sometimes stacked, sometimes stacked not very stable.

managed to push through some more stuff, trying to remember where I put everything to get a sense of where I am. This feels like the camera tripod, so I'm about halfway the foot end of the bed, progress! There goes the camera, I had no hesitation whatsoever sacrificing gear to get to safety. Get this in your minds before you start doing selfbondage:

 - I will sacrifice my clothes, toys, gear, stuff without hesitation if it is between me and safety

When all this was over that room looked like a battlefield, I trashed everything trying to find the scissors and after that getting out of the room to the stairs. When I realized I was not going to find the scissors I decided to open an extra option and start yelling for help while I was heading for the stairs. 

I was just getting out of the room when I heard my doorbell and banging on the door so I yelled through my gag that I was stuck and needed help. I waited on top of the stairs and less than 10 minutes later I was set free by two very professional police officers who clearly encountered this situation before or at least had training on it because they knew exactly what to do and how to handle any questions from my neighbour and parents.

So lessons learned? A wake up call yes, one backup release was not enough. Even after doing a 1000 sessions this wasn't even a complicated one and I messed up the connection of the ice lock and ratchet. Handcuffs are a lot less forgiving than rope. I was tired and not in a good mental state so I made a lot of small mistakes that accumulated. Why were my doors locked? I never have them locked when I'm at home... So don't be me but if you are me stay calm and keep thinking.
