Very interesting, compact, but easily escapable.

The nearly very bad!
- padlock failure, when locked!
Its all well and good having the fantasy of being locked away without any release, but when it nearly happens for real...
I'm so glad that I lock my cages closed (and all my padlocks) when not wearing them - the padlock refused to open and I had to cut the hasp off (if you zoom in you can see the remaining hasp still in the lock)
Dodged a bullet there I think, it could have failed at any time!
Off to buy some decent small locks from local hardware store 😁
Play safe!

Just buy a decent cage with a hidden lock. They look much better. But, on the other hand ....

Which is what I have got and have been wearing for the last few days, but I fancied a change and went 'retro' 😁
It does raise the question of what happens if the 'hidden' lock fails....
I've undertaken some 'testing to destruction' on the remaining cheap and nasty padlocks - scary results!
Of the 5 tested I broke 2 in the 'locked' position!!!!! And, stupidly, one not only locked but in use! Don't ask, just don't!
Another trip to the garage and the application of levers 😁
All in the bin now... waiting for my replacements to arrive. Meanwhile I'll stick to my 'hidden' lock cages.
...and hope that nothing goes wrong with them!

Nooooooooooo! The horror!
Luckily I have the tools to hand that 'should', with a bit of luck and probably a lot of swearing, get me out of trouble if the worst was to happen.
One of the failed locks did so in a way I've never seen before:
Note the barrel has actually fractured! Further examination shows how cheap these padlocks are - brass case, steel shackle, but some kind of low quality steel mixed with brass parts for the locking mechanism itself.
I think the term is 'avoid'!
