Mounted upside down in a middle of a, let say, circular table top, would make for the rod itself. Its length can be moved up and down and then fixed by a twist. However, you could drill a hole trough it, to put trough a nail that would hold it in the right height until you pull the nail out. The string to pull the nail would be out of your reach until the right moment?

BTW, you can place a plank with a mounted dildo on the floor and sit on it. Imagine a big dildo you can not "swallow". You will have two choices - hold your weight by your arms (push ups? pull ups?) or stretch your butt 😉

What about this as release mechanism: The pin trough the hole drilled in the leg, holding the leg up, tied to a string routed trough a ring fixed a meter away. On the string, between the pin and the ring, there would be inserted a sock with ice cubes you would need to pull trough the ring before you could pull the pin. you could even keep your hands free as long as the pin were too low on the rod to be able to bow low enough to reach it - with long dildo inside, you could not bow much, no?
