Latex bolero armbinder - Anne - 15 Jan 2012

I have bought this: http://www.likera.com/blog/wp/archives/10603

On the page it states that you can pick the thickness of the latex. When I asked for the thickest I received a message from the seller :

Quote:Our thickness is 0.45MM, not 0.1MM, thank you !

Which I am sure means .45mm and 1mm, also good I suppose. The seller asks for a lot of measurements, including those not necessary for the single glove ( like length of legs ) but as explained in the note included with my item they have a separate "selling team" and "producing team".

The seller is very informative, in bad English but it is better than my Chinese so I'm not complaining, with emails when the item started production, to tell me they continue working on it during holiday season, and answers questions within 12 hours and usually faster.

I got my item 6 weeks after I paid for it. I believe this to be reasonable for a custom made item shipped from China.

It turns out that it also has a zipper on side not visible, so under the arms against your back. Nice extra! This is a one way, the zipper you can see on the pictures is a two way. Both zippers slide easily and there is not a single point where they seam to stick, one smooth glide all the way up or down.

Alas, not all is well. When first trying it on one of the seams came loose. You can see that in the pictures in attachment. On examining the other seams there appear to be others that are not glued well.

Anyone care to share some tips on how to repair latex? I have had no success on other items I own but would really like to repair this. What glue? Where to get? How to proceed?

I decided to try it on anyway. I have read the thread by Strappado carefully, thanks for sharing 😉

This turned out to be much simpler, after some playing around I found it was as easy as attaching a string to the zipper, put the glove one so it sits well on one shoulder (getting it on both is physically not possible, trust me ) and pull the zipper up with the string while wiggling your arms and shoulders. The other shoulder will glide in to place as the zipper moves up.

Getting out requires pulling the zipper back down. Pulling the other zipper down does not work! the latex folds over when you pull making it impossible to open the zipper by pulling an attached rope. The same is true for the outer zipper, the latex around your neck folds over if you pull the string. But, also as mentioned by Strappado ( I knew it too but he mentioned it first so he gets the credit 😁 ), simply holding your neck against something rigid while pulling solves this.

I have made a crappy recording of this process and shared some stills in attachment.

I have contacted the seller about the crappy gluing on the seams, I am expecting a (partial) refund or free ( good ) glue to fix it myself. This needs to be handled quickly. The period eBay allows for complaints has aeady passed ( 5 weeks, the item took 6 to arrive ) and in 5 days the period passes in which I can give feedback. So if it is not resolved in 5 days I will give negative feedback and lose any chance for a solution.

The single glove feels nice and comfortable. I did not put to much force on it to see if I could get out because of the crappy seams but as it is latex I am sure I can trash it if the need ever presents itself. For real inescapable bondage you would not use latex anyway.

First of all, thank you very much for the report!!!

Strange thing #1, because they advertised 0.8mm. 0.8 is aeady quite thick to make escape very difficult. And I'm not sure if I can break free through 1mm (especially in the pictured position 😉 )

Anyway, 0.45 is a disappointment.

I wonder if they indeed make to measure or just use the measurements to choose between standard S, M and L (or S/M and L/XL 😉

Can you open this zip with a string to make the glove wider and escape?

On the photo it looks like it's not just a seam but the latex gave up.

See the site of 3XL's wife: http://eurocatsuits.com/how-to-glue-latex I will ask them if I can borrow their page (with a canonical reference to the origin) to put it on this site for easy reference.

This is exactly what I expected to hear, because the glove looks very comfortable.

No, it folds so and you can't lean against a wall with it because your arms are in the way. I first tried zipping this one up because that way you can get the bolero to fit nicely around your shoulders, put your arms in the sleeve and then zip it up. I have treaded a string from the zipper, between my arms, trough the neck opening on the back of my head to pull it shut. That would have worked but when I pulled under an angel the wire pushed against the other zipper and that one slid open. I think this would be the easiest way if I secure the wrist to neck zipper to a collar or something. Also less stress on the leotard if done this way. Might try this again if I manage to repair it.

I'm pretty standard so I don't care 😎

The latex gave up where it met a correctly glued part of the seem. I think they knew what they were doing because the ends are all at least double layers, mostly tripple layers and sometimes even quadruple but the glu did not hold. In fact that seem came loose with allmost no tension applied, at least for the first 15cm, from there it is fine but that is exactly where my elbow is and thus the most force is applied. I think it would have hold just fine if the seem was done correctly.

As long as the latex isn't torn beyond the seam, it should be easy to fix this. You can use the same glue that comes with bicycle tube patches, which is dirt cheap. Only make sure that you clean the latex thoroughly first. Apart from that, follow the instructions given on the website that likera mentioned.

Too bad, your first attempt went wrong, but according to my experiences, this happens often, but also can be fixed often. I am still fighting to get my sleeveless latex leotard from China and I do hope, that all the trouble I had with customs, delivery delay etc. are enough 😁

A little late but I got it repaired! Thanks! Bicycle tire repair glue worked fine.

Now I'm finding more ways to get in and out so in the near future I'll try to do a real session with it.

I forgot to mention: Latex clothes can be put on much more easily when they are powdered with talcum. This might help with the second shoulder.

Good luck and lots of fun with your next session!

I would say J-Lube. I do not use talcum powder for about 10 years.

eBay: J-Lube

I disagree to some extent. It all depends on you position and latex thickness.

Nope, nothing. Very, very comfortable. A little to much space round the wrists all else is great.

RE: Latex bolero armbinder - Strappado - 15 Oct 2012

Any news on this? I vaguely remembered, that someone ordered from super qiqi before, and it was you - reassuring, because I am going to order there as well. I had a horrible nightmare with another Chinese supplier, so I am careful now. However, it was 80% my fault and 20% their bad English.

Well, back so subject, I read the thread again. Perhaps you can tighten the area around the wrists by folding the material around the seams and glue? It might be a bit difficult to get a nice transition to the upper part, but it might be worth a try. Did you fix the other bad seams?
