Self bondage using electronic padlocks - Polemanme - 26 Apr 2024

I have always wanted to indulge in self bondage but as I get older the flexibility has gone and getting tied up is just much more difficult to be effective and by the time I have completed the tie I want out.
But I thought if I use an electronic padlock, then I could use simple cuffs and secure myself for a set time without the contortions.
I can now as long as I think about it lock myself very securely in a bed spreadeagle, standing spreadeagle, any type of standing bondage with hands to the sides wide or behind my back. The only thing I have to do is make sure if I can reach the leather cuffs, that I lock the cuffs on with small padlocks.
When I first started trying this I discovered that while the padlocks are very accurate at keeping time and unlocking they are not that secure when a lot of weight is placed on themit simply pops open.
I thought about it logically and came up with this solution.
I describe as a simple, small shackle drilled to slide over the hasp. Anything then within that shackle could be held securely while not stressing the padlock at all.
It works brilliantly and for times when you need to stretch to lock out tightly simply use this a link in the rope or chain and a standard padlock for the final click secure which is much easier to locate and lock.

using rings like this also takes away the stress from the lock:

I'm going to try out your solution as well as that requires less hardware and might be easier to use in some situations. My locks are thicker so not sure if I can find a shackle that I can drill to fit.

That’s a great idea. I love it.
As I’m pushing 70 now, I have the same problem as you.
Except for the fact that I am a little fat and find it hard to get myself into my favorite position without getting a cramp or two.

But I still can standing self suspension and the ever popular chair tie.

Well I am 70 and it works great. As long as you put this lock in the rope within reach you can do the rest as tight as you want and still get out at the allotted time.

It may well be the best gear for your tastes but I can see a few difficulties. Firstly they are expensive, then they are large and bulky, also they look heavy as well.
The padlock I illustrate is £14.00 ($20) and the shackle is £2 ($3).
The timer is clear and uncomplicated and can be set for up to 99 hrs and 59 minutes once it is set you can roll on it and fiddle with it to your hearts content and only the timer will release it.
It also is a device simple enough to use by feel alone.

I have a couple of these $20 padlocks and that's indeed cheap but I also have them fail on me, battery degrading suddenly so they don't hold charge anymore, the acoustic signal dying... I always do a test run with the full session duration before I use them and make sure to have a backup release where I can easily get to because I don't have much faith in them anymore. And you have to consider the cheap build quality. The way you use them works but, as you have discovered yourself, even with a bit of tension the release mechanism fails.

For the selfbondage-shop gear, I know ice locks work, I have one I bought (not from them) and several I made myself. I don't think the magnetic ones are for me as I can only imagine static scenarios as there needs to be power to the lock and if I can reach that wire I'll rip it loose.
