More content making for this thread. Since self bondage as in being tied up is the goal the prep work and cleanup afterwards should be minimized if possible, no one has endless time and getting to bed a bit earlier or staying in bondage for longer would be nice. I personally find the act of coiling rope to be relaxing but it gets on my nerves when I realize how long it takes. If you have any tips and tricks to reduce the time spent share them!
I will start. I like using a chastity cage but it is always a catch 22 situation as you can't get your chastity on if your penis is erect but if you try to put it on your penis becomes erect. The way I solve this is by coiling ropes at the beginning of a session rather then the end, this way after I am done for the night I can just throw the ropes in and finish up while it allows me to burn off some horniness coiling ropes at the beginning, once my penis is no longer erect I get the chastity cage on before my penis has time to realize what is going on.
Another trick I often like to use which I have stated before is to have a few pre-made prusik loops which are easy to adjust and can be incorporated into any aspect of self bondage that requires adjustment or tightening like a hogtie or spreadeagle.
One trick of mine which may not be as applicable is that I have minimized the use of anal lube in favor of having the butt plug be inserted by alternating the stretching of my buttcheeks which opens up my butthole a bit and I insert the butt plug in a little bit more. This allows me to get an anal plug in with only a dollop of lube at the tip to make it more comfortable, meaning that when cleanup time is around there is less unholy foul lube chilling around near my butt.

For me it's preparation and exercise. I like to video tape myself in bondage and this requires a lot of extra setup and clean up. Not only the camera but also moving furniture out of the way, making sure nothing is in frame that might quickly identify me,...
So for preparation, I think a long time about something new I want to try, I take the tools and props from the boxes I keep them in and put them in the "session box" which holds only the stuff and ropes I need for this particular idea. This speeds up the setup as I only need one box, and the cleanup as I can just throw everything back in it when I'm done. I can sort everything back in the correct places later.
The exercise part is trying out bits and pieces of the idea and updating the contents of the project box accordingly. I might do legs only when there is not much time or do the hands with an easy release. For a video I'd like to dress up so I need to work a bit on the outfit as well. If it looks good but you're wearing two corsets it's not going to be comfortable in a hogtie. Again, all clothes go in the project box.
Then when I feel comfortable with the whole thing and it's time to start I go to the location, set up the tripod with the camera, push some stuff off screen, prepare the anchor points, put ropes / locks / hoods / gags /... where I need them. Get dressed, hit record and get started getting tied up.
Cleanup is throwing everything in the project box, rearrange the furniture, take the box and tripod with camera and it's done. Sorting everything from the box and editing the video is done afterwards when there is a bit of time again.
